Hackers Take Over Samsung Nigeria’s Facebook Page

The official Facebook page of Samsung Electronics West Africa in Nigeria has been hacked by an unidentified person(s) after several updates where posted on its page today eliciting a negative backlash from its fans.
The company’s Facebook page last officially posted an update on January 2, but had not until 11:40 pm on Thursday when the first update was posted suggesting that the page had been hacked.
The unknown hacker posted ridiculous updates like: “Whose was this Fanpage”, “Who can I get e-mail manager that has been”, “un would like to bring back fanpagen old manager again Plase e-mail”, and even suggesting that he/she was a Muslim, as shown in the screenshot below.

Meanwhile, a guy named Oyekanmi Bolade who claimed to be the admin manager of the Samsung Mobile Facebook page has requested that the hacker restored his rights to the page or call him for details on how to do so, promising  to compensate the hacker.
We did a quick check to confirm that Oyekanmi Bolade is actually the Digital and Content Manager for Samsung Electronics West Africa.
While we’re not sure why and how the Facebook page was compromised, we’ve reached out to him for his comment on the situation and would update this post when we know more.
