SON EXHUMES MOTHER’S CORPSE
A middle-aged man
simply identified as Jefoe has been arrested in Osogbo for allegedly exhuming
the corpse of his mother who was buried in his family house at Owo Ope area of
Osogbo, the Osun State capital. It was learnt that the culprit dug the grave of
his mother in the midnight and was eventually caught in the abominable act by
some relatives who lived in the family house.
it was gathered that the
residents of the house had slept when Jefoe went to the backyard to exhume the
corpse of his mother, but luck eventually ran out on him when some of his
neighbours woke up and arrested him. A source close to the area said Jefoe, who
claimed to be mentally ill, was the only surviving son of his late mother, who
died five days ago and was buried according to Islamic rite immediately after
her death at the family residence.
Although the identity of the deceased woman could not be
ascertained as at press time, it was gathered that the woman had four children.
It was further learnt that other children of the deceased had married and lived
outside Osogbo where their late mother resided. The residents of the house who
caught Jefoe raised the alarm, which attracted other residents of the area. It
was also discovered that the culprit had removed some parts from his mother’s
body and kept inside a carrier, which was also seized from him.
The culprit was later handed over to the police for further
interrogation. However, attempts to get the police to confirm the story proved
abortive as the Police Public Relations Officer for the state police command,
Mrs Folashade Odoro did not pick her calls and failed to respond to the text
messages sent to her line.
