Land dispute: Battle of the First Ladies continue as peace talks collapse
The land, 1.84 hectares, located at plot no. 1347 Cadastral Zone AOO, Central Business District, Abuja, FCT, was initially allocated to Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) when Turai was the First Lady.
Bala Mohammed, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory revoked the allocation and reallocated the same land to Mrs. Jonathan for the building of African First Lady Peace Mission Headquarters.
The court had on March 5, 2012 granted an injunction restraining Adoke or any other person from affecting the title or interest of WAYEF over the property pending the determination of the case.
The applicant’s counsel, Innocent Lagi, disclosed that the offers made to replace the plot were unacceptable due to size or location.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke (SAN) had urged Justice Peter Affen, of the Abuja High Court, Bwari to discontinue further hearing on the matter saying that an amicable resolution would be reached by the Federal Government.
Further hearing on the matter is to be adopted on January 24, after which the court will reserve the case for judgement.
