It is written in the word of God “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path.” Perhaps guidance from the Lord is what our Mr. President seeks as he embarks on his second term as Commander in Chief.  On Sunday, January 20, he made a special point of not putting God on the back burner by attending church service at Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church prior to his official swearing-in.
With President Barack Obama in the congregation, Reverend Ronald E. Braxton delivered a special sermon nuanced with the theme from Obama’s re-election campaign — “forward.” In his message, Braxton entreated Obama to continue forward as “forward is the only option.” According to reports, Braxton engaged his congregation in a call-and-answer repetition of the word “forward” throughout the sermon with the chanting of the word growing stronger each time.
Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church is also widely known as the National Cathedral of African Methodism. It is among the most historically recognized churches in the United States. Furthermore, this church has also performed the pre-inaugural prayer exercises for President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore.
Because January 20 — the day set forth by the Constitution as the day presidents are to take the oath of office — lands on a Sunday this year, President Obama is participating in two swearing-in ceremonies. The public ceremony will be held on Monday, January 21. Following Monday, Obama will be the first president since President Roosevelt to be sworn in four times.
