Woman Walks Out Of 2-Day Old Marriage
This is really strange, what could make a woman walk away from a marriage of 2 days? In Nigeria? She needs to be enlisted in the Guinness World Book of Records for the shortest marriage, or who can beat her to that - Kim Kardashian lasted 72 days, while Britney's lasted 69 hours.
Kaduna Sharia Court II, sitting in Magajin Gari has granted the wish of Babangida Dan-Auta of Maraban Jos and Laure Sulaiman by ordering the dissolution of their two-day-old marriage. The court however gave a condition that the bride should pay back the dowry paid by Dan-Auta.
Findings revealed that the woman approached the court for the dissolution of the marriage on December 10 (two days after they were joined together) on the premise that she no longer loved the man. The husband however alleged that the woman lied to him about the number of children she had in a previous relationship. Dan-Auta told the court that he found out that his wife who claimed she has three children actually has eight.
He also stated that she left home two days after the wedding, asking for a divorce. She agreed to pay back the dowry which she claimed was N10,000. The husband however insisted that he paid N17,000 as dowry.
The Khadi ruled that the money should be refunded latest by Friday, January 4, 2013, after which the marriage will be dissolved.
