Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno has been freed by his captors.

home this morning under tight security from Marte -Chad border towns.
The first Minister of Petroleum Resources was on Friday abducted by
gunmen at Mafoni quarters in Borno where he had gone to observe the
Jum’at prayers.
An eyewitness, Malam Ibrahim Shehu said the kidnappers pretended to

guns from their dresses.
“The four of them entered the car before ordering the driver to move.
“The car moved toward the Dandal Police Station before we lost sight of it,” Shehu said.
While speaking to newsman on the phone over the weekend about his
father’s abduction, Monguno’s first son, Abubakar Ali Monguno said the
abductors asked for an undisclosed amount of money as ransom for his
release.
“The abductors got in touch and they put my father through on the
phone. He spoke to us and said that he was fine. They made a ransom
demand,” Abubakar told AFP but declined to give a figure.
We shall bring you more details of his release as we get them.
