Senator Ahmed Zanna Khalifa, representing Borno Central Senatorial District has been exposed as the senator who harboured a top Boko Haram commander, Mr Shuaibu Mohammed Bama.
Mr Shuaibu Mohammed Bama was recently apprehended by the Joint Task Force at Senator Khalifa’s home.
This will be the second senator to be in the news for Boko Haram related news  in the past week. It may be recalled that former governor of Yobe State and now Senator, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, threatened the president that unless the Northeast is allocated more funds in the 2013 budget all Nigerians should expect more Boko Haram attacks.
His exact words were “Boko Haram is a product of poverty. It’s a product of unhappiness. We are unhappy with Nigeria. Unless something is done to address it, Nigeria should expect bigger Boko Haram insurgency, Insha Allah.
When asked about his relationship to Bama, the senator said “Shuaibu Bama is a son of my sister. But the lie is what they are saying that they arrested him in my house, which is lie. And we cannot hide or harbour a Boko Haram sect member. And since he was not arrested in my house, they should go and investigate his relationship with people they arrested him in their house. I don’t know anything about it and just heard yesterday.”
