A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Sun Yet Sen in Matobo District
allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl she had offered transport home on a
bicycle.Stanley Ndlovu, of Mfila Village under Chief Malaba had played
the “Good Samaritan” by giving the girl a lift home on his bicycle
before he turned into villain after raping the girl. He allegedly raped
the girl as payment for the ride.
The girl was coming from an all-night prayer in the company of a
church mate who was also carried on a bicycle by Ndlovu’s colleague,
Owen Ncube. The two girls were going to Tshelanyemba. Ndlovu pleaded not
guilty to rape when he appeared before Gwanda magistrate Ms Sheila
Nazombe yesterday. He was remanded in custody to 3 December.
The State alleges that on 11 March this year, the two girls decided
to find alternative transport to go home from the prayer. The court
heard that it was arranged that the girls’ friend would be ferried home
by Ncube while the accused would offer her a lift.
On the way Ndlovu allegedly ordered the girl to off the bicycle. It
is alleged that he told her that it was time for her to pay for the ride
as he could not transport her free of charge.
Ndlovu allegedly pulled the girl into the bush a few metres away from
the road where he tripped her and raped her once. After raping the
girl, Ndlovu reportedly dressed up and cycled away leaving her at the
scene, the court heard. The girl walked where she arrived at 8.30pm and
narrated her ordeal to her mother.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of
Ndlovu. The complainant was taken to hospital for medical examination.
