Delta Speaker, Victor Ochei, Escapes Bomb Blast
Speaker, Victor Ochei
Speaker
of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, today escaped
an assassination attempt when a bomb placed under his table exploded
shortly before he sat down.
The
event which occurred at Obomkpa in Aniocha North Local Government area –
the Speaker’s constituency was a reception organized in honor of Ochei
by a political group loyal to him.
Obomkpa
is home to another strong politician Chief Mrs. Nkem Okwuofu, Chairman
of Delta State Civil Service Commission who has a frosty relationship
with Ochei.
Though Ochei escaped without bruises same cannot be said of others.

Asaba was seriously injured and was taken to Delta State Teaching
Hospital, Oghara, where one of the doctors attending to her told www.thetimesofnigeria.com reporter that “the woman just arrived and we are doing everything possible to stabilize her right now.”
Meanwhile,
the police, led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police from the Delta
State Police command immediately mobilized to the scene.
A police source told www.thetimesofnigeria.com reporter that one John Oyibo Achuzia Ijeh was arrested and is being interrogated at Police Headquarters, Asaba.
