Family of five, three others killed in Delta auto crash.
Tragedy struck along Benin-Asaba-Onitsha Expressway yesterday as no fewer than eight persons were killed in a ghastly auto crash that claimed a family of five.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) morgue in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Killed were the husband who drove the vehicle, his pregnant wife, two of their children (male and female) and their house-maid. They all died on the spot. It was learnt that the vehicle skidded off the road and somersaulted severally at Ubulu-Okiti Junction, along the expressway.
The victims were said to be travelling from Ekiti State and heading towards Awka, the Anambra State capital when the Toyota Hilux vehicle they were traveling in lost control after one of its tyres burst.
Eyewitness said the survivors, including an octogenarian believed to be the matriarch of the family and one of the daughters of the deceased couple are receiving treatment at the FMC’s emergency unit.
Men of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who evacuated their bodies at the scene yesterday, deposited them at the FMC.
