Two suspects held over Lagos robbery

TWO suspects are now in police custody over a September 9, 2012 robbery in Lagos in which three policemen and one commercial bus driver were killed.

The suspected bandits were arrested by police operatives attached to the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), led by the Commander, Mr. Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of Police (SP), after a painstaking intelligence network put in place by the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Umar Manko.
The suspects, Rasheed Sulaimon and Kazeem Enifolabi, who were arrested in Dopemu area of the metropolis, confessed knowing the members of the robbery gang, which operated on that fateful day.
Sulaimon told reporters that although he did not participate in the Sunday robbery since he was indisposed, but that the gang leader sent him free recharge card of N3,000 a day after the robbery.
It was gathered that after the operation, the leader of the gang gave some money to Sulaimon before the gang fled to a neighbouring state to escape arrest.
Sulaimon also took detectives to Agege where the gang’s operational vehicle was recovered with two AK47 rifles and four magazines containing 200 live ammunitions were hidden inside.
He told journalists that he did not follow the gang for that particular operation but that they planned it together in a bar in Lagos
